AI Reference Policy
-
AI often creates random floating elements, impossible lighting, distorted anatomy and line weights that do not translate well on skin or reflect how a tattoo ages over time. It simply cannot accurately depict what is possible in tattooing with respect to artistic capabilities.
-
While AI can be a useful tool, it is fundamentally detrimental to the environment, consuming massive amounts of energy and water. The enormous footprint required to power AI data centers goes directly against Mel’s values of sustainability and mindfulness.
It also supports artist theft and plagiarism.
-
Instead of turning to AI, please reconsider your design process and look to more authentic sources of inspiration:
Use your imagination and communicate with your artist.
Gather photos of existing tattoos, paintings, drawings, or graphic designs that capture the mood and subject matter you want to create. Mood boards and Pinterest are great ways to get collages together for designing.
With that being said, if you have already “designed” your tattoo using AI prompts you’re welcome to upload them as a visual aid but please know that the tattoo will be redesigned.
